School Bus Driver

The driver shall be a reliable person of good character who shall possess the qualifications and communication skills necessary to perform the duties of the position, and comply with the rules set forth for driver in all federal, state, and local regulations. All School Bus Drivers must speak fluent English.

Job duties include, but not limited to:

  • Picks up students at specified location.
  • Ensures that all students are safely and properly seated on the school bus.
  • Enforces school bus rules and regulations.
  • Observes rules of the road and drives with caution.
  • Drops students off at school.
  • Makes sure all students enter and exit the bus safely.
  • Transports student groups to extracurricular activities.
  • Makes sure all students are well behaved while on the bus.
  • Reports any disciplinary problems to school principal or Human Resources.
  • Inspects school bus before and after routes to ensure vehicle is in good working order.
  • Brings school bus to mechanic for maintenance as needed.
  • Ensures that interior and exterior of school bus remain clean.
  • Provides emergency assistance and aid to students in distress.
School Bus Aide

The bus aide shall be a reliable person of good character who shall possess the qualifications and communication skills necessary to perform the duties of the position. All School Bus Aides must speak fluent English.

Job duties include, but not limited to:

  • Maintain discipline when students are on bus.
  • Report undisciplined students to the school principal or assistant principal.
  • Assist driver in keeping assigned bus clean and orderly.
  • Complete a walk-through of the bus before and after each bus trip.
  • Provide boarding and exiting assistance to young and disabled students.
  • Check outside the bus while students are boarding and unloading to ensure that no safety hazards exist.
  • Once students have boarded the bus, check for any potential hazards, fasten younger students into their seats and check the roll to make sure everyone is on the bus before directing the driver to start the bus.
  • Assist with all state required bus safety and evacuation drills.
  • Assist the driver as needed
